Empirically elucidate the innovation process and industrial system structure of programmed medical devices (SaMD)
The leader of R&D Theme 5, Dr. Shintaro Sengoku (Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology), and his team have empirically elucidated the innovation process and industrial system structure of programmed medical devices (Software as a Medical Device, SaMD), a symbol of digital transformation in the medical and healthcare fields, in a paper based on a project report research conducted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Co-Creation Opportunities Initiative (COINEXT) Kawasaki Center (Project CHANGE). The paper empirically clarified the innovation process and industrial system structure of programmed medical devices (Software as a Medical Device, SaMD), a symbol of digital transformation in the medical and healthcare fields, and discussed future prospects.
